SEOUL, May 07 (AJU PRESS) - A Korea-themed festival featuring various events and splendid programs are currently underway across France, under the name of "2024 Korean Season."
More than a dozen Korean cultural organizations including the Korea Tourism Organization and Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, are actively promoting Korea at the festival which runs for six months.
The festival kicked off with a captivating performance and dance battle between Korean and French dancers at Paris's Théâtre du Châtelet on May 2, just ahead of the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics this summer.
The festival boasts a diverse array of over 30 programs showcasing Korean culture, including an opera blending traditional Korean folk narrative songs with contemporary music, as well as exhibitions of traditional ceramic ware. Additionally, there will be a fair highlighting media art.
Spanning not only the French capital of Paris but also Aurillac, Avignon and Nantes, the festival is attracting instant attention, particularly among Parisians, as the city prepares for the quadrennial global sporting extravaganza in late July, anticipating a surge in tourism.
Korea's Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In-chon and France's former Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, graced the festival's opening ceremony with their presence. "I would like to express my sincere congratulations to Paris on hosting the Olympics again after a century. I am truly grateful to have the "2024 Korean Season" as a part of events in Paris, a city renowned for its cultural richness," said Yu.
