SEOUL, May 08 (AJU PRESS) - LIG Nex1 is displaying its mid-range surface-to-air missile defense system "Cheongung-II" at the Defence Services Asia (DSA), which kicked off on Monday for a four-day run in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

More than 1,200 companies from some 60 countries are participating in the defense exhibition hosted by the Malaysian government.

The Cheongung-II, also known as KM-SAM, features the function of intercepting ballistic missiles at an altitude of about 20 kilometers (12.4 miles). In February 2024, LIG Nex1 secured a $3.2 billion contract to export the missile defense system to Saudi Arabia's defense ministry.

Along with the Cheongung-II, the Korean defense company is showcasing ship-based guided-missile "Haegung," and anti-tank system "Hyeongung."

LIG Nex1 plans to promote its guided weapon systems, optimized for Malaysia's battlefield environments, to military officials from Malaysia and other countries.

"We will focus on introducing our advanced technological capabilities specialized in radar and guided weapons," said LIG Nex1's overseas business division head Lee Hyun-soo. "We will endeavor to expand markets for exports beyond Europe and the Middle East to Southeast Asia."
